We hope you will join us soon!
The children love taking part and exploring a wide range of art activities. The children are free to choose and access art materials at all times in our art area
We find lots of creative ways to explore making marks, this is important to help them develop their future writing skills
Making Friends and Having Fun!
The most important thing we do at Ranikhet Rainbows Pre-school is have fun and play with our friends.
Free access to toys and Resources
We let the children access and choose toys for themselves, encouraging them to become independent, imaginative learners who enjoy exploring, and thinking for themselves. This also helps them to prepare for their future school years.
We provide the children with a healthy snack and a drink of milk each session. Water is available to the children throughout the session. We encourage the children to help pour drinks and serve the snack themselves to promote independence skills.
We have fun learning maths skills through playing with shapes & volume, organising, sorting & categorising and learning about numbers & counting.
Our provision takes inspiration from the Forest School approach. We believe that spending time outdoors is very important. The children go outdoors every day no matter what the weather because we believe that the fresh air and wide open spaces are good for them. We have a garden which the children access daily. We also go on regular trips to the nearby wild space, Lousehill Copse where we love challenging ourselves to walk up and down hills and mounds and climb up and over tree trunks. We look for signs of seasons, go on bug hunts and take notice of natural features.
Music and Dance
The children join in with lots of singing and dancing activities which encourage language, imagination, understanding, listening and allows the children to express themselves. It is also lots of fun!
Messy Play and Open ended play
Children enjoy playing with up a variety of different media and materials. They explore freely, allowing them to adapt, change and steer the activity in any way which their imagination takes them. They are given opportunities to test what they already know, plan, adapt, change and make predications. Messy play provides valuable sensory experiences for all age children.
What do we do at Ranikhet Rainbows Pre-School?
At Ranikhet Rainbows Pre-school we provide lots of fun activities which are specially designed for 2 year olds to learn through play. We follow a “Child interest led” approach where we take inspiration for planned activities and resources from observations of the children. We plan our environment carefully to offer a fun stimulating space where children are free to take the lead and follow their own play urges.
The children have plenty of opportunities to take part and enjoy role play, this allows children to make sense of the world around and draw on their own life experiences or what they have witnessed. They explore and begin to understand relationship and take on and rehearse new and familiar roles.
Role play encourages communication, negotiation, collaboration and sharing as well as a chance to extend mathematics and literacy skills.
The children always have access to a variety of books. The children use puppets and story sacks to make sense of the stories and characters, have fun looking at flap and feely books. The children enjoy listening to stories as part of a group and have fun joining in with parts of their most favourite and familiar stories.
We operate a library system where the children take a book home each week to share with their family. We provide each child with their own book bag.
